AAHHE is currently seeking nominations for the following representatives to serve a 2-year term (2023-2025) as members of its standing committees: Finance/Audit, Governance, Membership, Partnership Development, Professional Development, Publications, and Awards. The standing committees include both board members and volunteers from the membership at large. The primary responsibilities of the Standing Committees are presented below.
The Finance & Audit Committee seeks one volunteers to contribute on oversight of:
- Fiscal and financial affairs, including annual budget and financial policies, financial analyses, financial reporting systems and controls, proper use of resources, financial records, monthly and annual budget reports, and expenditures.
- Organizational asset recommendations
- Recommendations of external auditor to the board; qualifications, performance and independence of the Association’s independent financial auditor
The Governance Committee seeks three volunteers to contribute on oversight of:
- AAHHE’s Bylaws and policies
- Address gaps in competencies and demographic representation (i.e., gender, race/ethnicity, geography and identity orientation) in nominations
- Nomination and election process of new members to the Board, election of Board officers, as well as the leadership of the Standing Committees
- Board orientation and on-going professional development
- Strategic Plan Monitoring
- Performance assessment of the Board of Directors
The Membership Committee seeks one volunteer to contribute on efforts concerning building the institutional, organizational, and individual membership of AAHHE.
The Partnership Development seeks two volunteers to contribute on oversight of matters pertaining to strategic relationships of the association.
The Professional Development seeks a minimum of three volunteers to contribute on the development of webinars, institutes and other educational programs.
The Publications Committee seeks three volunteers to contribute on the oversight of all publications of the association.
The Awards Committee seeks six volunteers to contribute on making recommendations to the Board concerning awards bestowed by AAHHE.
Eligibility
Candidates must be active AAHHE members to be eligible for consideration. Candidates must be able to participate in a series of regularly scheduled virtual meetings throughout the year, work extensively on AAHHE priorities, and will be expected to participate in regular discussions and zoom calls. Workload expectations will vary by committee, time of year, and the volunteer’s professional and personal commitment schedule. Although not reimbursed, committee members are also highly encouraged to attend the annual conference.
How to Apply
Submission Materials:
For each of the committees to which you are applying, the following application materials will need to be uploaded via the AAHHE submission portal as ONE PDF file:
- A brief ONE-page statement (maximum 500 words) of interest and commitment that addresses:
- The reasons you are interested in the specific standing committee
- Indicate any relevant experience in the committee area to which you are applying
- Highlight how you would contribute to the committee
- Following the statement, include your curriculum vitae (limit of three pages).
The completion of the nomination form and the submission of nominations document need to be completed sequentially no later than Friday, June 2, 2023, by 11:59 pm ET. Please ensure that you have all nomination materials ready, combined as ONE PDF document, before starting the nomination form on the portal.
