AAHHE Announces Appointment of 2024 Chair and Chair-elect and Three New BOD Members

The American Association of Hispanics in Higher Education (AAHHE) is beginning its twentieth year as the premier national association representing Latinx faculty, administrators, students and professionals in higher education. AAHHE is proud to announce the appointments of:

• Dr. Cristobal Rodriguez as Chair of the Board of Directors and as Dr. Marissa Vasquez as Chair-elect for the year 2024 – 2025.
• Three new members to the Board of Directors were appointed:
• David Fuentes, PhD (July 1, 2024 – June 30, 2027), Associate Dean, College of Education, William Paterson University.
• Jasmine Haywood, PhD (July 1, 2024 – June 30, 2027), Strategy Director, Lumina Foundation.
• Magdalena Martinez, PhD (July 1, 2024 – June 30, 2027), Associate Professor and Senior Policy Fellow, Rowan University.

The addition of members to the Board of Directors brings the total number of AAHHE Board members to twenty. Collectively, the new Directors bring deep experience and understanding of educational leadership, teaching, policy, community engagement, diversity, Latinx studies, and social sciences.

AAHHE Announces Appointment of 2023 Chair and Chair-elect and Four new BOD Members

The American Association of Hispanics in Higher Education (AAHHE) is beginning its nineteenth year as the premier national association representing Latinx faculty, administrators, students and professionals in higher education. AAHHE is proud to announce the appointments of:

• Dr. Azara Santiago Rivera as Chair of the Board of Directors and as Dr. Cristobal Rodriguez as Chair-elect for the year 2023 – 2024.
• Four new members to the Board of Directors were appointed:

o   Naomi Ramirez, MA, Graduate Student Member-at-Large, July 1, 2023 – June 30, 2025, PhD, Department of Education (in progress), San Diego State University and Claremont Graduate University

o   Antonio Duran, PhD, Early Career Member-at-Large, July 1, 2023 – June 30, 2026, Assistant Professor, Higher and Postsecondary Education, Division of Educational Leadership and Innovation, Arizona State University

o   Marissa Vasquez, EdD, Faculty/Administrator Member-at-Large, July 1, 2023 – June 30, 2026, Associate Professor, Community College Leadership and Postsecondary Educational Leadership, San Diego State University

o   Mary Ann Villareal, PhD, Member of the Board of Directors, July 1, 2023 – June 30, 2026, Vice President, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion, University of Utah

The addition of members to the Board of Directors brings the total number of AAHHE Board members to twenty. Collectively, the new Directors bring deep experience and understanding of educational leadership, teaching, policy, community engagement, diversity, Latinx studies, and social sciences.

The American Association of Hispanics in Higher Education (AAHHE) is beginning its eighteen year as the premier national association representing Latinx faculty, administrators, and graduate students in higher education. AAHHE is proud to announce the appointments of:

• Dr. Patrick Valdez as Chair of the Board of Directors and Dr. Azara Santiago as Chair-elect for the year 2022-2023.

Three new members to the Board of Directors were appointed for a three-year term (2022-2025): Drs. Jeanett Castellanos, Marie Mora and Luis Ponjuán. The addition of members to the Board of Directors brings the total number of AAHHE Board members to eighteen. Collectively, the new Directors bring deep experience and understanding of educational leadership, policy, community engagement, diversity, Latinx studies, and social sciences.

AAHHE Announces Appointment of 2021 Chair and Chair-elect, Eight new BOD Members and Sixteen New Standing Committee Members.

The American Association of Hispanics in Higher Education (AAHHE) is beginning its seventeenth year as the premier national association representing Latinx faculty, administrators, and graduate students in higher education. AAHHE is proud to announce the appointments of:

• Dr. Victor B. Saénz as Chair of the Board of Directors and Dr. Patrick Valdez as Chair-elect for the year 2021-2022.
  
  

• Eight new members to the Board of Directors. Six new Directors were appointed for three-year terms (2021-2024): Drs. Edna Acosta-Belén, Edward Delgado-Romero, Gloria P. Martínez-Ramos, Cristobal Rodriguez, James Rodriguez and Julian Vasquez Heilig. Dr. Claudia Garcia-Louis and Monique Posadas, MA were elected by the membership as Faculty Member at Large and Graduate Student Member at Large, respectively for a two year term. The addition of members to the Board of Directors brings the total number of AAHHE Board members to eighteen. Collectively, the new Directors bring deep experience and understanding of educational leadership, policy, community engagement, diversity, Latinx studies, and social sciences.

• Sixteen association members to Standing Committees, including Finance & Audit, Governance, Membership, Marketing & Public Relations and Programs Committees for the term 2021-2023.
• Finance & Audit Committee: Drs. Walter Diaz and Tony Marin.
• Governance Committee: Drs. Maria Oropeza Fujimoto, David G. Martinez, Anthony De Jesus and Sandra Bertram Grant.
• Marketing & Public Relations Committee: Drs. Yolanda Zepeda and Christian Bracho, Neda Ramirez, MEd and Jacqueline Fuentes.
  
• Membership Committee: Dr. Antonio Duran, Celine Cortes and Sergio A. Gonzalez.
• Programs Committee: Dr. Amber Gonzalez,Carmen Curiel, MSW and Dianne Valvidia.
